What the Resumely Match Score tells you
The Resumely Match Score is our estimate of how well your resume fits one specific job posting, on a scale from 0 to 100. It is not a score from any employer's hiring system. No employer sees it, and no employer uses it to rank you. Use it as a quick read on fit and a list of what to fix first.
What the score looks at
- Keywords
- Which skills and terms from the job posting appear in your resume. This carries the most weight.
- Meaning match
- Whether your experience describes the same kind of work, even when the wording is different.
- Readable format
- Whether the text in your PDF can be extracted cleanly, so the content you wrote is the content that gets read.
- Title match
- How closely your recent job titles line up with the role.
- Numbers
- Whether your bullets show results with numbers, such as volume, time saved, or team size.
- Complete sections
- Whether the core sections are there: experience, skills, education, and contact details.
- Recency
- Whether your relevant experience is recent or from years ago.
What it does not measure
- How a specific employer's applicant tracking system will treat your application. Every company sets up its own system, and we have no access to any of them.
- Your chances of getting an interview or an offer. Hiring depends on the other applicants, the recruiter, timing, and much more than the resume.
- Visual design. The check reads the text of your resume, not its colors or style.
- Whether what your resume says is true. Only add a skill if you really have it.
How to use it
- Check one resume against one job at a time. The same resume will score differently for different postings, and that is expected.
- Start with the top gaps. Add a missing skill only where it honestly describes your work.
- Check again after you edit to see which changes moved the estimate.
Common questions
Is this my ATS score?
No. It is Resumely's own estimate of how well your resume fits the job. Employers use many different tracking systems, each set up differently, and none of them shares a score with us. Treat the number as guidance, not a verdict.
Do I need an account?
No. You can run up to 5 free checks a week without signing up. Create a free account if you want to keep a check and tailor your resume from it.
Will a higher score get me more interviews?
We can't promise that, and nobody honestly can. A higher score means your resume covers more of what this posting asks for. Whether you are invited to interview is up to the employer.
Why does my score change between jobs?
Each score compares your resume with one posting. A resume that fits a data analyst role well may fit a product manager role poorly.
What happens to my resume?
We save the text of your resume and the job posting so you can keep this check in a free account. The text is used to calculate your score and suggestions.
Can I use it in Hebrew or on my phone?
